While Vignette is struggling with its financial performance, Interwovens Q2 2008 results soar. Interwoven reported total revenues of US$ 63.2 million for the second quarter of 2008, an increase of 16% from the same time period last year. License revenue is up 11% totaling US$ 23.4 million versus Q2 2007. Support and professional services revenue increased 18%. Net profit soared 78% from Q2 2007 to Q2 2008.

Vignette is not having a good year. The company released its Q2 2008 financial results, and theyre not pretty. The revenue is down (again), GAAP net loss is substantial, non-GAAP net income is 73.5% down compared to the same period last year. The company says that sales and marketing efforts need improvement. But is it really so?

MindTouch has released the latest version of its open source collaboration platform, known as Kilen Woods. This new version bridges a number of technologies required for collaboration and collective intelligence including usability improvements, workflow and enterprise integration adapters. It’s a solution that has definitely come a long way from the days when we called it Deki Wiki — and that wasn’t so long ago.

At OSCON yesterday Dave Recordon, of Movable Type, announced a new nonprofit organization. The Open Web Foundation has been created to support the development and protection of non-proprietary specifications for Web technologies.
According to their website, “the foundation is aimed at building a lightweight framework to help communities deal with the legal requirements necessary to create successful and widely adopted specification.”
