Open source enterprise content management vendor Alfresco (news, site) really doesn’t strike you as a vendor that likes to stay in the shadows. Quite the contrary actually. And the work they have been doing on CMIS — the Content Management Interoperability Specification — proves it. Their goal — and they aren’t being subtle about it — is to the first Enterprise CMS that is fully CMIS compliant.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin has started a blog, candidly telling of being at risk for Parkinsons Disease and plugging his wifes genetic testing start-up firm.

While Brin is no stranger to news-making webcasts and online press announcements, he made a blogging debut Thursday by sharing personal musings in a post at the Blogger weblogging website Google bought in early 2003.

Bloggers At Democratic Convention

Google will be pampering bloggers and tutoring US policy makers at Democratic and Republican national conventions as Internet culture flexes growing political muscle.

The Internet giant is joining news-ranking website Digg and blogger groups to set up a Big Tent for media and delegates at the Democratic convention next week in the US state of Colorado. The 8,000-square-foot center will feature a public area with kiosks for uploading videos to Google-owned YouTube and demonstrations of services offered by Google.

Google Gets Political

UK-based The Content Group leads the quality standards study for Enterprise Content Management. The Content Group (CG) aims to collaborate with BSI British Standards to develop a best practice standard for ECM, which will establish a frame of reference for the entire ECM market. The final result is expected to be the first ever Publicly Available Specification (PAS) for Enterprise Content Management.

A specification for ECM…something that should have been done long ago? Is the content management industry ready for it?
