Friday, August 28th, 2009

If you’re in the market for a new collaboration service, here’s one straight from Mumbai that might strike your fancy.

DeskAway, designed for smaller teams and businesses, was created in response to the belief that e-mail is “just so old-school.” The tool is a subscription-based, Web project collaboration service that provides teams a central location to organize, manage and track their projects.

Apache CMIS Implementation: Is There Chemistry?

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

The CMIS specification is still in early stages, but the buzz around it is consistently loud. Most recently, the spec has piqued interest of the Apache Software Foundation (ASF), as some saw a “reference implementation” ingredient missing from the CMIS recipe for success.

Meet Chemistry — a recently-proposed Apache Incubator Project with a goal of creating a generic, open-source, Java-language implementation of CMIS.

And now, UK–based Claromentis (news, site) has announced a complete multi-language extension with its v5.6 enterprise content management system.

Last August, iDatix (news site) made it onto the KMWorld’s list of 100 trend-setting products for 2008. At the time there was speculation that it might have made the list because of iLink, its application integration solution.

Allowing for tighter integration with third party applications, iLink provides the ability for a user to create buttons and keyboard shortcuts that link to a particular function within iDatix iSynergy ECM.

This week saw another third party application — eCopy’s (news site) ShareScan — getting the full integration treatment.
