Google Brings Video and Voice to Google Talk

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Google recently announced a much-anticipated addition to the Google Talk service. In addition to being able to sent text instant messages from within the Google Mail system, users can now conduct voice and video chats — all from within the browser.

After users download a Google-provided plugin, they will see “Video and More” in the conventional chat window. Other IM systems, such as MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Zoho Adds Offline Support To Zoho Mail Product

Zoho, a Web-hosted Microsoft Office and Google competitor, has announced offline support for their Zoho Mail product. Zoho Mail joins Zoho Writer — the company’s word processing product — in using (ironically enough) Google Gears for offline support and access.

Five Reasons to Choose Vignette (or Not…)

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

It’s hard to know what the deal is with Vignette. Poor financial results and some unflattering press throughout the summer suggest all’s not well with this aristocratic web and enterprise content management brand. But awards aplenty and an enduring client-base chock-full of marquee names suggests the opposite.

The company has been kicked around a little bit lately in the press. And so, cutting a long story short, we got in contact with Dave Dutch, senior VP for products and marketing, to give him the chance to craft some arguments for why our readers should pick Vignette ahead of its competitors. Wedged inline we also offer our own observations on these views. Pass the jump to burrow yourself in.
