• Can Google Wave Change the Future of Content Management?. Right now, most document management solutions work under the idea of many people making separate edits, locking the document to prevent edits stepping on one another. But what if you could all edit a document at the same time like you can in Google Docs and similar tools? That, in some ways, is the promise of Google Wave.
• Report: The Most Popular Open Source CMS, and Then Some. Following on the heels of the 2008 Open Source CMS Market Share Report, this year we collaborated with water&stone to produce an improved 2009 version.
• Oracle Merges Document Managment and Enterprise Applications. Still only halfway through Oracle’s OpenWorld conference in San Francisco and the enterprise giant has made a number of announcements about the future developments with the company. In particular, the decision to integrate business applications with the document management component of its Enterprise CMS platform caught our attention.
• SAP to Resell Open Text ECM Under SAP Branding. The new, reseller-inspired name is the SAP Extended Enterprise Content Management (SAP Extended ECM) application by Open Text.
• SharePoint Conference 2009 is Sold Out. The 2009 SharePoint Conference, happening next week from October 19 - 22, in Las Vegas is now sold out. And while you would prefer to be there in person, it’s a good guarantee that you will get all the news on SharePoint 2010 you need without having to fight for a seat in an extremely crowded room.
• Social Media Minute: Peering Into Twitter Users’ Habits, LinkedIn Usage Soars. Social media moves so fast, it’s hard to keep up. Here are the week’s top stories.
• Early Case Assessment Survey Reveals Benefits, Challenges and Providers. According to a recent survey conducted by The Cowen Group, a search firm specializing in staffing litigation and practice Support and eDiscovery professionals, Early Case Assessment (ECA), while being implemented by roughly 75 percent of the participants surveyed, is still only being used by those in the legal sector. Non-legal corporations accounted for only 37 percent of ECA use.
